Wardrobe lockers are a convenient way to add more organization to your life. Every closet is different, so your wardrobe requires different measurements and dimensions of each locker built into it. However, there are basic instructions that will work for all the lockers in any wardrobe. The most important step is the design stage. Without a well thought out design gives the lockers, no additional usefulness to the closet.
Measure the dimensions of the closet. Identify areas where you can place wardrobe lockers. Sketch the design you want to create on a piece of paper. Try to keep the design as simple as possible. Remove everything from the closet. Select the basic outline of the lockers on the closet wall. Find the wall studs with a stud finder and mark their location on the wall with a pencil or other marking device.
Determine how much wood you need for the project. Take measurements of the closet and the size of the locker that you want to build to find the right amount of wood. Cut out locker pieces from wood with a table saw. You need two side walls, a top and bottom piece, a front door and shelves for the inside of the cabinet.
Build the wardrobe lockers inside the closet. Use two metal brackets per common to keep every part of the shelf together, for increased stability. Screw the hinges on the door piece and then screw the other side of the hinges to the lockers frame. Cover the floor with a tarp, and then paint or stain the lockers as desired.
